En la segunda parte de nuestro tour cambiamos el aire
por el mar. La compañía GSL Aviation
nos trasladó al puerto de Abel Marina, donde nos esperaban el staff de la empresa Ocean Rafting,
la cual lleva operando desde el año 1997. Ofrecen viajes diarios en lanchas
motoras que recorren las Whitsundays,
explicando cada una de sus zonas, permitiendo hacer snorkelling en áreas con coral y contagiando buen rollo a través
de sus guías y de la música que reproducen durante toda la jornada.
In the
second part of our trip we changed the air for the sea. The company GSL
Aviation took us to the Abel Marina Port, where the staff of Ocean Rafting
company, which has been working since 1997, were waiting for us. They offer daily
trips in speedboats around the Whitsundays, explaining the main places, allowing
people to snorkel in coral areas and spreading good vibes through the guides
and the music they play during the day.
Nada más salir del puerto nos encontramos con la
primera sorpresa: dos mantas raya,
una madre y su bebé, nos escoltaban durante aproximadamente diez minutos. Posteriormente,
uno de los guías se tiró al agua con su GoPro para intentar captar el momento,
ya que según nos contaron era muy inusual encontrárselas, pero estas decidieron
desaparecer y no volvimos a verlas.
Just when we
were leaving the port, we were surprised by two manta rays, a mother and her
baby, who scorted us during aproximately ten minutes. Then, one of the guides
jumped into the water to film the moment, because they told us that it was very
unusual to see manta rays, but they decided to dissapear and we couldnt see
them again.
La primera parada que teníamos programada era bucear en el coral ubicado cerca de una
de las islas. Este trayecto tampoco lo hicimos solos. De repente empezaron a
aparecer una gran cantidad de delfines en la proa de la lancha. ¡Fue increíble
verlos desde tan cerca, se podían casi tocar! La zona de coral a la que fuimos
no nos impresionó tanto como la que vimos en Cairns, aún así he de decir que
era muy bonita.
The first
stop we had scheduled was snorkelling in the coral located near one of the
islands. We weren’t alone during this way either. All of a sudden, a bunch of dolphins
started to appear on the bow of the boat. It was incredible to see them that
close, we could almost touch them! This coral area wasn’t as striking as the
one that we saw in Cairns, but anyway, it was beautiful too.

Al mediodía desembarcamos en la isla Whitsunday para ver una parte del Parque Nacional que componen las islas. Este parque, en el que
vivía antiguamente el grupo aborigen Ngaro, está declarado Patrimonio de la
Humanidad por la Unesco, al igual que la Gran Barrera de Coral. Lo atravesamos hasta
llegar al Hill Inlet, el mirador que
podría ser comparado con las puertas al cielo. Y es que desde el se divisa la
joya de la corona de las Whitsundays: la
playa de Whiteheaven.
On the
afternoon we landed in Whitsunday island to see a part of the National Park,
formed by the islands. This park, where the Ngaro aboriginal group used to live
in the past, is declared a World Heritage Place by the Uneso, the same as the
Great Barrier Reef. We crossed it to get to the Hill Inlet, a lookout that
could be compared with the gates to heaven. From Hill Inlet you can see the crown
jewel of the Whitsundays: Whiteheaven beach.
Tras contemplarla durante más de media hora, el guía
consiguió captar nuestra atención para bajar a la playa, tomar de nuevo el
barco e irnos a una zona un poco más alejada a almorzar. La comida que ofrece
Ocean Rafting, incluida en el precio, es de tipo buffet, con ensaladas de
pasta, pollo, ostras, embutido y fruta. Mientras estábamos comiendo, uno de
nuestros compañeros empezó a gritar y es que un lagarto enorme estaba aprovechando para urgar entre sus
pertenencias. Estos lagartos son muy comunes en Australia, la primera vez que
me encontré uno fue en Double island.
We spent
more than half an hour looking at it, until the guide could attract our
attention to go down to the beach, take the boat again and go to a farer area to
have lunch. Ocean Rafting offers a buffet lunch, included in the prize. You can
eat different salads, chicken, oysters and fruits. While we were eating, one of
our colleagues started to scream because a huge lizard took advantage to look
into her belongings. This lizards are very typical in Australia, the first time
I saw one was in Double island.
Descansamos un rato y decidimos meternos al agua,
donde nos esperaba la última de nuestras sorpresas: una tortuga. Estuvimos un rato nadando con ella hasta que se hizo
la hora para volver de nuevo a Airlie beach. ¡Fue un día 10, de esos que
repetirías una y otra vez!
We had a
rest for a while and after that we decided to go into the water, where we found
our last surprise: a turtle. We were swimming with her until it was time to
return to Airlie beach. It was a TOP day, one of those that you would repeat
again and again!
