Poco a poco iré contando el
resto de los viajes que he hecho este año, pero creo que ha llegado la hora de
hablar un poco de Milán, que es donde vivo ahora y donde no me importaría
quedarme por más tiempo. En este post
encontraréis una breve introducción de la ciudad y una guía rápida. Más
adelante iré profundizando en diversos aspectos como son los famosos
aperitivos, tiendas, discotecas…
From time to time I will be telling you about the trips I have made along
the year, but now I have to talk about Milano, where I am living right now and
wouldn´t mind to stay longer. You will find a short introduction and guidance
to the city. Later you will be given some information about aperitivs, shops,
discos...
Situada en la provincia de
Lombardía, Milán es una de las ciudades más grandes de Italia. Industrial y de negocios, se considera la
capital económica del país. Al decir “industrial”
podemos imaginar una ciudad gris, con
grandes edificios, calles desgastadas… y hay quién ve Milán así. Yo no. Puede
ser que le haya cogido mucho cariño, pero el hecho es que lo veo con otros
ojos.
Milano, in Lombardia region, is one of the bigger cities in Italy. It
is considered the most important city for business, trade and industry in
the whole country. And aside some opinions, is not a dark city with grey
old buildings, not at least for me.
Comenzaré la guía por la
Piazza dil Duomo, donde se encuentra la magnífica catedral de estilo gótico
cuya construcción comenzó en 1386. Cuando la ves por primera vez deja sin
palabras. En lo alto se encuentra la famosa Madoninna, estatua de la virgen
María y punto más alto de la ciudad.
La vestimenta para entrar al Duomo debe ser
adecuada, ni hombros ni piernas al aire. Además la entrada es gratuita. Si no quedáis satisfechos
con la entrada al templo y su visita, también podéis subir a la terraza y apreciar
mejor, y más de cerca, la Madoninna. Cuesta 7€ andando, y 12€ en caso de que se desee usar
el ascensor. No seáis vagos, no hay muchas escaleras!
The best place to begin the tour is Piazza dil Duomo and the magnificient gothic cathedral started in 1386. When you first see the building it leaves you speechless. The Madoninna, Our Lady Maria, in the top of the building is the highest point in town. To appreciate the Image you can ascend to its roofs and terraces using the lift (12€) or the stonestairs (7€). Do not be lazy, it is not too hard!
On the other hand the Church is free and we must enter properly dressed.
Las Galerías Vittorio Emanuele II también son
visita obligada, y además se encuentran en la misma Piazza dil Duomo. Encontraréis
tiendas de marcas italianas de ropa (Luis Vuitton, Prada, Luisa Spagnoli o
Gucci…), joyerías como Damiani y
restaurantes donde poder probar la más que conocida comida italiana. No son
excesivamente caros y siempre es un lujo comer en un lugar como este, rodeados
de sus inasequibles comercios y viendo entrar en ellos a enormes familias de
países del Golfo Pérsico.
The Covered Gallery Vittorio Emanuele II, in one side of Piazza Dil Duomo,
is also a must. You will find shops of the major international brands (Vuitton,
Prada, Luisa Spagnoli, Gucci, ...) together with well known Jewelries as
Damiani, and restaurants where to try Italian cuisine. These restaurants are
not very expensive, and it is a real pleasure to have lunch and feel yourself
as if you were very rich surrounded by those prohibitely expensive shops while
huge families from the Gulf States are spending lots of money!
Pero si sus fachadas y su
cubierta de cristal son imponentes, no os perdáis el suelo. Lleno de mosaicos
y vidrieras con forma octogonal que
sirven de ventilación de los locales bajos. En el cruce central encontramos cuatro
mosaicos que representan las cuatro capitales de Italia (Roma, Milán, Nápoles y
Turín), cada una con un animal. La última está representada por un toro y dice la tradición que se deben pisar su
genitales con el tacón del zapato y
girar tres veces sobre él, para volver a la ciudad de Milán. Tendré que pisarlo
muy fuerte y dar muchas más vueltas, a ver si consigo quedarme aquí!
Apart of its wonderful facades and glazed ceiling, once inside the Gallery
pay attention to the floor. Its full of octogonal stained glass and stone
mosaics which are the basement ventilation. The four italian capitals (Rome,
Milano, Naples and Torino) are represented by different animals in four mosaics
in the hallways cross. The bull reperesents Milano and its is traditionally
believed that if you press its balls with your shoes and gyrate three times you
will come bak to this city (sorry, that is what tradition says). Along this
year I will do it as many times as possible to make sure I am remaining longer.
Cruzando las galerías se
encuentra el Teatro alla Scala, uno de los más famosos del mundo y con un magnífico
interior. Originalmente la idea de su
arquitecto, Giuseppe Pier Marini, era
que el edificio estuviera entre calles, de ahí que su arquitectura exterior no
destaque en absoluto entre los edificios monumentales que la rodean. Fué más
tarde, con el Teatro ya construído, cuando se tomó la decisión de que formara
parte de una plaza.
Por 6€, se puede entrar a
visitar y tiene incluso un museo. Si preferís ver una ópera o un ballet, conviene
estar atentos al inicio de la venta de billetes ya que suelen durar de un minuto a dos.

One of the most famous theatres in the world,Teatro alla
Scala, is in front of the Gallery, in the small Piazza della Scala. The
building was supposed to stand among streets, not in front of a square, this is
the reason why it has not got remarkable facades. Nevertheless interiors are
spectacular, with amazing chandeliers, curtains and golden ornaments. For only
6€ it can be visited together with a small museum. If you prefer to enjoy a
ballet or an opera pay attention and be as quick as possible because tickets
are sold in not longer than two or three minutes! Depending on the spectacle
prices go from 20€.
